Steve Guy is an actual douchebag who doesn't know where the enter key is.

That being said, keep on preaching pinky! That was a nice rant and I understand who you would be pissed is someone asked you take down a video. It was clearly listed in the rules when you entered. I think Steve has worked his ass off to produce a great show and a really unique and cool venue.

I am standing at the Hilarities bridge with gasoline and a flame-thrower.

Steve Guy Sep 5, 2010 12:14 PM
Also, for those of you who don't know ME and only how I portray myself when doing comedy, maybe make an attempt to have a conversation with me first before judging and thinking I'm an actual douchebag. For a group of folks who are attempting to build a living off of the observation of others, there sure are a lot who have made the mistake of who I really am. And to add to the rant, I take constant ribbing about my venue or the setup I provide and do it all in jest and also for what I wear on stage, I'm aware it comes with the territory, but don't for one moment think you're a hardass and I couldn't kick the shit out of you. That's for people who even know me not just for those who don't. I'm an easy guy to get along with and good one at that and I will back up any of my friends and I consider many comics such, but don't think that means you can walk all over me.

Steve Guy Sep 5, 2010 12:07 PM
Reason I don't hate Erick Williams? Because even though he says repeatedly stupid things he always still finds a way to come back and compliment other people and what they are doing. Thanks for the kudos and that is reason is why I will continue to always let him know my opinion in person instead of on some internet board. I am in the same boat as Katrina in regards to Marty, anyone who visits please do send my well wishes for him. . . . In other news, Euclid Tavern's "Funniest F***er In Town" is heading to Round 2 this week as Erick said, it'd be great if area comics who have yet to come out and support the show and their fellow peers do so starting this week as we build. Now, onto the rant; For those participating in the show, I will not remove videos until voting completes each week. If you wish to have them removed I will certainly do so at that time. However, you entered the contest and know what it's about, so no they will not come down immediately. Here's the deal, it is not my problem if you opted to do a shitty job with your jokes that week. If you want to blame it on not feeling energy from the crowd especially if it's smaller, well hey, too fucking bad. I work my ass off to build this venue with very little help from others and have so far made it what it is right now and what that is is a good fucking venue that is a lot of fun. Most comics opt to bring NO ONE to these shows, so if I am unable to fill the room that week, shut the fuck up and don't bitch because guess what, you did absolutely NOTHING to help out. I'm an easy going guy and this is aimed at no one in particular as I have gotten shit whether childish playful banter or not about crowds once in a while or "distractions" because the room may not be full so guys don't "bring it." So here's why I'm pissed finally: Initially I was going to charge to be in the contest, but for some reason my contest wasn't good enough for people to want to pay and participate. Fine, I still wanted to have a fun contest, I dropped the fee and had a sponsorship in the works, at the moment it has folded due to a buyout in the beer company. Option 2, I had another way to get money, but for other reasons that will not work out in time to pay the winner. So now here we are at the last option I hoped would not happen, the winner's money will be coming out of my pocket. So next time you want to come to MY show and not do a solid job and then bitch about it, realize you are in fact disrespecting me personally because I put the effort in to give an opportunity to showcase you to others and you do mostly nothing in return for me and just may end up getting money for it. Everyone bitches about the scene this town could be, well I'm working my ass off to make it that and I'm tired of watching those very same people not pitch in and do their part, all it takes is to run your fucking mouths which you seem to have no problem doing otherwise about shows like this and the scene could blow up. I do my best each week to support the entire area of comic and though again, I have gotten very little help or support (thanks Swell Guys and SSTD show for constant shout outs), I still support others and work my ass off to help provide you with another outlet. So in conclusion...... DO SOMETHING OR SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Blanchard Sep 5, 2010 12:00 PM
Jim...I recieved the same offer from John and I turned him down. Not burning bridges...just believe it is a shoddy deal.

Conley Sep 4, 2010 8:35 PM
Thanks Jim ... I didn't just want to assume comics were free.

Katrina B. Sep 4, 2010 6:52 PM
Thanks for the update on Marty, Jim. I'd asked a while back but I think it got lost in a different pissing contest on here. I would feel.... I don't know, .... weird, going to visit -- I have concern but we were never FRIENDS friends to head out and actually visit. If someone heads out there, just give him a Pepsi and tell him it's from me.
Unless he's stopped drinking it again.

Jim Tews Sep 4, 2010 5:04 PM
Conley, as you asked earlier, I'm sure comics get in free down at H-Club, as long as someone there knows you're a comic, you can sit in the back. (I'm saying that for the others, I'm pretty sure Hilaritie's knows you're a comic.)

You wouldn't burn a bridge on this site if you disagreed with the way the club ran things, that's fucking ridiculous. You will only burn bridges if you throw uninformed opinions around and trash a place you've never worked.

I had a long conversation with John Lorince at Hilarities about this anniversary show, and the amateur nights they've been doing. I guarantee you that they're not trying to make money off the comics. Making money off of amateur comics is a business plan that even I would see failing. And everyone on that bill agreed to do it.

And Marty is ok, in a nursing home apparently. I have his number if anyone wants it, or if you want to ride out there (far east side somewhere) we can carpool.

Erick Williams Sep 4, 2010 3:44 PM
Yes, Baker, someone could post links to Wiggles videos.
Kristin, it's clear when you use sarcasm in written form, which is difficult to do. Ramon hadn't grasped that before he got booted from here. Keep writing stuff, it's fun to read, even when it's about me. And congrats on the big dick.
Hegedus, great post, keep fighting the fight and doing what you love.
Mark, if you really got the promotion, congrats. If not, good joke.
Missed Palmer and Tony Cover's show today, but they'll be back next Saturday at noon. Wellington Sheer and Ivy will be on the radio at 2 am tonight, one of them will probably put a facebook post up. I believe Savatt and Squire or on Black Squirrel Radio this Monday at noon.
Squire and Patterson are up at the Improv tonight and tomorrow, and I believe Clem is finishing out his week of hosting at the F Stop tonight.
R.I.P. Robert Schimmel. I am not very familiar with him as a comedian, but anyone who survives cancer has my respect, and anyone who survives cancer and continues to make jokes about it, they have my reverence as well. J.D., thank you for sharing your experience with us and passing on his memory, and thanks to those who made that meeting possible.
Does anyone know if Marty is doing okay?
Funniest Fucker in Town finished up the first round this week, semis start this Thursday, kudos to Steve Guy for giving all os us youtube footage and for running a fun contest.
Protestors in Dublin through eggs at Tony Blair this week. Even the IRA is resorting to biological warfare...
Spread the laughter and enjoy the weekend guys.

Marv Sep 4, 2010 2:25 PM
Thanks for that J.D. You are right, and from what I have seen you will bear that torch with honor.

JD Sidley Sep 4, 2010 1:42 PM
Last year, Robert Schimmel was appearing at the IMPROV and Lee - knowing, of course, that I was being treated for cancer - thought I might like to meet another comic/cancer survivor. I figured Schimmel might give me 5 minutes before the show, but after we were introduced he talked for about 40 minutes and didn't want to stop until a few minutes before he was about to take the stage. Some of you (like Chris H.) have also met him and knew his goddamned positive attitude and his openness - especially with other comics. What you, hopefully, will never know is the pain he went through with cancer. I know it. And being funny through that and making jokes about that made him an even better comnic and human being. The rest of us cancer comics will try our best to carry the torch in his name and tell our sick jokes. - JD Sidley

I just got promoted to Manager!!!

Baker Sep 4, 2010 1:10 PM
Can this site get any more infantile?

bigboybuddah Sep 4, 2010 12:56 PM
 Erick,

Lee, my boss, is forcing me to write this. He politely asked you not to use his name in any of your posts or to respond to any of his posts. You have chosen to disregard his requests and now he is pissed. So, he says don't come to the club anymore. Also, he wants you to know he has not responded to any of your posts and you are acting like he has. You think he is talking directly to you when he's not. So, he says don't come to the club anymore. Lastly, he will not ever respond to your posts here because he thinks that you are unstable. So, he says don't come to the club anymore.

On a personal note, IMHO if you don't think that you insult him then you need glasses...much thicker glasses.

Chris Hegedus Sep 4, 2010 11:36 AM
Robert Schimmel was the reason I got into stand-up after college...I had the chance to meet him a few times over the years at the Improv...early on I even gave him a VHS tape of my standup...which was probably awful, but it still makes me giggle...he was polite, friendly, and most importantly brilliant and fucking hilarious on stage...

I also like where Lee put somewhere in here that "comics do comedy"....Work at the H Club, work at the Improv, work where ever you can... there are countless clubs outside of Cleveland, some suck ass, some are awesome...The "who's got the bigger dick" contests are between Lee and Mario and Nick and John Lorince...they are in business against each other, so of course, let them fight and try and take cracks at each other...I work at both clubs, and am friends with some of the managers and bartenders and servers at both clubs. Our job is to entertain whatever audience is in front of us...

With that being said, I still got some tickets available for Wed Sept 8th at Pickwick...Let me know if you wanna come down, or make sure you drop my name or click my name online!! Only $10...come on down!!!

Bringer show/open mic show/exploitation show/shady show...whatever, I'm going to go there and tell jokes to the people that are there...thats what makes me happy...

Katrina B. Sep 4, 2010 9:49 AM
It was my understanding that, in the accident, he took the brunt of the injuries. He was on the donor list for a new liver prior to the accident.

What a loss. And, WOW, what an inspiration that man was -- not only in comedy, but in life.

Conley Sep 4, 2010 9:11 AM
Marv, I googled it this morning, after reading rumors all night on twitter and other sources. Very tragic loss after all he had overcome. Prayers to his entire family.

Marv Sep 4, 2010 8:45 AM
Mike where do you find that information. I'd like to put it in this just in.

Conley Sep 4, 2010 8:14 AM
Robert Schimmel has indeed died due to complications of the injuries suffered in that car accident. I saw him at the Improv, one of the true greats of this business.

Kristinsaurus Rex Sep 4, 2010 5:30 AM
Erick, thank you for saying things on here that other people are afriad to say... things that mainly cause drama and cause alienation in the comedy community... now you have given me the courage to say something I have long been afraid to say on this board...

My penis is bigger than yours.

Anyway, my point is, keep up the verbal diareah.

Doyle Sep 3, 2010 1:50 AM
I'm seeing the same stuff. Shecky is covering it, so far nothing in national media. I hope it isn't true about Robert Schimmel.

Conley Sep 3, 2010 11:03 PM
Kat -- what I've read to this point ... the news is not good about Schimmel.

Katrina B. Sep 3, 2010 10:53 PM
If anyone can get a definitive answer on Robert Schimmel that would be helpful.

The car accident was in late August but there are a BUNCH of confusing posts happening elsewhere. Did a Google search and nothing has been reported as definite.

Katrina B. Sep 3, 2010 10:15 PM
You did say it, and I TOOK it in jest. Jeesh Lee, I'm not the one riding your jock all over Yucks. I've actually kinda sided with your opinion on the whole thing, and was making a point that posts on Yucks aren't bridge burners.

MORE IMPORTANT though....

Is it true about Robert Schimmel?

Does anyone know for sure if he did pass or is this more speculation because of that car accident he was in? I know he's been on the donor list for a new liver for a while, but word is spreading on Facebook that he has passed away...

Erick Williams Sep 3, 2010 8:16 PM
Hey, anyone on the West Side who wants time in front of an urban audience tomorrow, let me know. I'm lookin for a ride to a show on the East Side, should be able to get you ten minutes, should be fun. Call me or facebook me since I am probably a leper now.
Seriously, any word on Marty?
